Candidates must submit an application to the Vermont Board of Pharmacy together with a check or money order for $50 (also $50 for biannual renewals). They can then work as techs for a period not to exceed 30 days while awaiting registration. Applicants must also enroll in a Board-approved training program or enter a pharmacist-supervised on-the- job training program. The Board-approved training program that pharmacists commonly use towards that goal is the National Pharmacy Technician Training Program a step that leads to the accredited ExCPT Exam.
Vermont does not seem to have on-campus programs for pharm tech. Here are some of the multi-state online programs:
Penn Foster Career College offers a self-paced Diploma program at a cost of $625 for payment in full, or $715 for an instalment plan. They are also regionally and nationally accredited.
U.S. Career Institute has a pharm tech Diploma program in as little as four months. Pay in full for $687, or in automatic payments for $837, or pay as little as $49 for a monthly plan at a total of $887.
Ashworth College also offers a Diploma program with a 120-hour externship at a Walgreens or CVS pharmacy.
